About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Communications Officer to lead its dynamic Communications Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the organization's communications strategy, overseeing a team of 8 staff, and leading efforts in public relations, internal and external communications, media outreach, event planning, and policy advocacy. This role requires a leader with emotional intelligence, collaborative leadership, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The Chief Communications Officer will also be tasked with crisis communications, advancing brand awareness, and representing the organization with various stakeholders. Applicants for the Chief Communications Officer position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 8 years' senior-level experience in communications or public affairs. A Master’s degree and experience with Florida government or nonprofit agencies are preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading communications strategy for public or nonprofit organizations, with technical expertise in media relations, digital campaigns, and policy advocacy. The role demands an individual who can operate at both strategic and tactical levels and is familiar with Florida Sunshine Laws and public records compliance. The Chief Communications Officer will play a pivotal role in the organization, with a focus on advancing its mission and engaging with the community.
